A visit to the Tierra del Fuego National Park

As one of the most breathtaking national parks of Argentina, the Tierra del Fuego National Park is one of the top natural attractions of the country. Situated on the island with the same name, the national park is famous for its dramatic scenery. From forests to waterfalls, from mountains to glaciers, the park has a wonderful landscape, protecting varied flora and fauna. It is considered the world’s southernmost national park. A visit to the Tierra del Fuego National Park is with no doubt a unique experience. It presents many attractions which make this park a must-visit. Flora and fauna

The park is famous for its varied wildlife. It is dominated by the subantarctic forest with such species of tree like the Lenga Beech, the Nires and the Coihue. There are also numerous species of beautiful flowers in the park, such as yellow orchids, calafate, michay, caulking, black bush, chaura and so on. As for the animals living in the park, European rabbit, gray fox, North American beaver, Magellan goose, eagle, corn dusk and condor are just some of the most common species. As for the coastal parts, sea lions and penguins are also found in the park.

The Beagle Channel

The famous Beagle Channel is part of the national park, being one of its major attractions. It is actually the strait which separates the island of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego from several smaller islands. The wonderful city of Ushuaia is situated on the Channel, being known as one of the world’s southernmost settlements. On some of the islands visitors can observe beautiful sea lions which make the channel very attractive for tourists.

Ushuaia

Ushuaia is a wonderful city and tourist destination. The capital city of the province is considered one of its highlights. The wonderful Tierra del Fuego National park is easily reachable from the city, by using the End of the World Train. Visitors of the city can admire seals, sea lions, penguins and even orcas on the nearby islands or in the waters. The Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse is another highlight of the city. Ski resorts are also situated near the city. A visit to Ushuaia is surely unforgettable.

The Lago Fagnano

The largest lake of the beautiful national park, the Lago Fagnano is one of the highlights of the park. It attracts dozens of nature-lovers. The immense lake occupies a surface of 645 km² and has a picturesque setting. I suggest you not to miss a visit.

The End of the World Train

If you want to get easily to the national park from Ushuaia, use the End of the World Train. It follows the Southern Fuegian Railway, the world’s southernmost functioning one. What can be a more unique experience than traveling by this train?
