Jujuy Province is situated in the northern part of the country, lying on the territory of the Andes. It is actually the country’s northernmost province. The region presents some of the most breathtaking sceneries of the country, including the fantastic Quebrada de Humahuaca and the Calilegua National Park. Due to the numerous natural attractions, Jujuy is an attractive area for visitors. Although tourism in not as developed as in other regions of the country, many visitors arrive in the province every year. Explore the unique Quebrada de Humahuaca

One of the most famous natural wonders of Argentina, the Quebrada de Humahuaca is a highlight of the province. If you are interested in some of the most breathtaking and most dramatic sceneries of Argentina, I suggest you to explore this unique area. It is actually a narrow mountain valley which is very attractive for tourists.

The site was inscribed on the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites in 2003. It has a historical importance for being populated for about 10.000 years. Some interesting archeological sites of the valley add even more attractiveness to this attraction.

Discover the pre-Inca fortification – Pucara de Tilcara

As you probably know it, there are some fantastic pre-Inca and Inca sites on the territory of the country. One such site is the famous Pucara de Tilcara. It is a pre-Inca fortification set on a hilltop, adjacent the town of Tilcara.

As the hill provided excellent views over a major part of Quebrada de Humahuaca, the choice of the fortification’s location was obvious. Today the site is a National Monument of Argentina and it is the only accessible archeological site of the region.

Get in touch with locals in the fantastic San Salvador de Jujuy

If you would like to get in touch with local culture, visit the capital city of the province, San Salvador de Jujuy. The area in which the city lies is dominated by mountainous regions, green plains, breathtaking lagoons, rivers, all of these creating dream landscapes.

The nice climate provides excellent possibilities for practicing trekking and other activities like sightseeing, photo safari tours and ecotourism. The highlights of the area include Yala lagoon, the Cathedral of the city, the Cabildo, not to mention the colorful Andean festivals held periodically.

Become one with nature in the Calilegua National Park

Another extremely attractive natural jewel of the province is the breathtaking protected area, the Calilegua National Park. The park is characterized by unique landscapes and a wonderful wildlife. The huge park also includes numerous archeological sites which are attractive for tourists.
