A popular tourist city within Argentina is the fantastic city of Puerto Iguazú. Its main importance is given by the adjacent world famous Iguazú Waterfalls. How to get there

The city is situated in the northeastern part of the country. It actually lies on the border of Argentina with Brazil and Paraguay. You can easily get to the city by plane, by train, by bus or by car.

There is an international airport situated closely to both the city and the waterfalls. If you choose the train, you can get here from Buenos Aires. The train will leave you at Posadas where you have to take a bus to the city. There are bus services from Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Salta, Cordoba or Posadas.

Getting around

If you would like to visit the breathtaking waterfalls, you can opt for bus tours which take you from the city directly to the entrance of the park. You can also get to the Brazilian side of the falls from Puerto Iguazú. Besides, there is a ferry service which takes you to Paraguay. As for the taxis, you can also get to the park by car. Taxi drivers will wait for you for hours if you ask them for.

Tourist attractions

As I already mentioned it, the major highlight of the city’s surroundings it the Iguazú National Park. The waterfalls are world famous due to their size and natural beauty. The national park attracts thousands of visitors every year. Another attraction nearby Puerto Iguazú is an animal refugee named Güira Oga. The Three Frontiers Landmark is also very popular among visitors.

Restaurants and shopping

There are some good restaurants and bars in the city, not to mention the shops. The most popular restaurants are La Rueda, Aqva and La Vitrina. If you want to buy some souvenirs, there are stalls on the streets and some shops, too.

There are numerous budget and mid-range hotels in Puerto Iguazú. As for the luxurious ones, there are just a few, including the SecretGardenIguazu B&B. Some budget hotels are Marcopolo Inn Iguazu, Hostel Bambu Club, Hostel Irupe and so on. Hotel Los Troncos, Americano and Hotel Tierra Colorada are mid-range hotels.
